Like many in this area, I have a job that involves lots of time in front of the computer.  Any simple physical activity left me winded.  So I made a resolution to get in shape. Kidding aside, Drew is great.  I have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and Addison's, so I'm usually exhausted and have lived a sedentary lifestyle for a while.  I was quite nervous about working out, especially with a totally fit trainer, because I was worried he might not understand how pathetic/lethargic I feel sometimes.

I didn't need to worry.  Drew is really understanding and compassionate; he was able to tailor the workout for my needs while pushing me a little bit.  He is already knowledgeable about exercise, physiology, and nutrition, but he is always seeking out more helpful information for our health.

He's there to help you to improve your health, so he may push you a little harder each time, but he's not scary like some boot camp coach -- he's laid back & easy to talk to.

Prior to becoming ill, I participated in various sports all my life.  I'd led teams as a captain, ran long distance races, etc., so I thought I knew how to exercise.  But having worked with Drew, I'm now seeing there's a huge benefit to working with an exercise professional.  (And no, I wasn't paid to write this.)

"I have been CFing now in one form or fashion for roughly 3 years now and become much more focused in only the last 6 towards really improving my performance. Specifically in the area of Oly Lifting, an art in and of itself.

I worked with Drew recently for a short session focusing on getting my Snatch on the right track. I was having issues getting a clean first pull and had a tendency to pop the bar off my hips. Right away, Drew identified a few issues, mainly pertaining to how I was setting up and addressing the bar. I fell in to the same trap I had when I was first learning the Clean and was trying to pull it straight off the floor as fast as possible instead of separating it in to two distinct, but fluid movements. Not only was his instruction beneficial in the Snatch, but his explanation of how to set yourself to engage the proper muscles has taken a lot of strain off my lower back, were previously I had no idea what I was doing was both limiting my performance and potentially hazardous in the long run.

Afterword, Drew gave me a few tools to aid in shoulder mobility as a means to keep a prior injury at bay and to avoid future issues.

Drew is a professional and truly passionate about what he does. You can tell he loves what he does from the moment you meet him. I will defiantly be back for a full week of hour long tweaks when my time table allows.

"I met Drew about a year ago through a friend while visiting Lynnwood CrossFit. That friend later told me that Drew was offering 1-on-1 Olympic lifting and athletics training.  I though, "Hey, that's really cool since he's a good coach!" But that's about as far as it went and I never followed up with setting up a time to work with him. I'm kind of kicking myself for not doing it sooner now.

I finally set up my first training session with Drew a few weeks ago. I got some solid advice on technique tweaks for a particular lift I've been having problems with, and he worked with me on hip mobility since that seems to be where my problems are coming from.  He's an experienced athlete, so naturally he's made and learned from all the mistakes in the past that I'm now making, and could tell what I was doing wrong and how to fix it.

As far as mobility goes, he assessed my knowledge base, asked me about when/how my issues began, what i've tried to do to alleviate them, and gave me some good advice and demonstrations. He was also good at noticing little things about my lifting form and posture that anyone else not as well versed in physiology may have missed.

Basically, Drew's instruction was very intuitive. He knew what he was doing and got right to the point, and gave solid coaching on how to improve my techniques. He's a super nice guy too and easy to talk to, which makes it that much better.  He didnt talk down to me like I've had other trainers and physical therapists do in the past, and that is also a really big deal to me. He even posts stuff to a blog, which is useful.  5 stars for sure, because I'm having a hard time finding anything negative to critique about training with him." - Mallory V.
